Dear Friend:
In the interest of contesting the current rush to war, we have composed the
attached "Open Letter to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and to
Representatives of the Member States, on the Declared Intention of the United
States to Commit Aggression Against Iraq."
The Letter calls into question the legality and justice of the U.S. war plans as
well as the U.S. and U.N. role in dealing with Iraq in the recent past. It
concludes by urging the U.N. and its Member States to act now to prevent this
war in accord with both the U.N. Charter and the desires of the vast majority of
the world's people.
We plan to disseminate this Letter widely to individuals, groups, and the media.
We urge you to sign this Letter and to pass it along to others to sign. Should
you agree to sign it, PLEASE indicate your name, affiliation or occupation
and/or location (city, country). Then please return your signature, either to
David Peterson via post (see above), phone or fax (708-425-1083), or email at davidpet@mindspring.com.
Many thanks for your time and consideration.
